Underground Utility Locating

Underground Utility Locating

Find Buried Power Lines Before You Dig

Not all underground lines are marked by MISS DIG. In fact, many aren’t. Hitting one could knock out power, damage expensive infrastructure, or put you in serious danger.

That’s why BTE offers private utility locating services for residential and commercial customers. We help locate underground electrical lines that MISS DIG won’t mark, like the underground feed to your pole barn, garage, site lighting, parking lot lights, pool equipment, or detached structures.

What Is a Private Utility Locate?

When you call 811 (MISS DIG), they only mark public utilities like your water, gas, cable, and power up to the meter. But anything beyond that, like power running from your house to your:

  • Detached garage or pole barn
  • Pool pump or heater
  • Gate operator or sign
  • Shed or greenhouse
  • Parking lot lighting
  • Landscape lighting system
  • Well pump or septic system

…won’t be marked.

BTE fills that gap with our private utility locating tool, which allows us to trace underground electrical lines safely and accurately.
